Dear Sequoia Adult School Teachers, Staff, and Community,

We are pleased to announce that Cindy Dominguez has been selected as our new Assistant Director of Sequoia Adult School, starting March 15. As many of you know, Cindy joined us as our school counselor this school year.

Cindy is committed to improving student academic success and promoting access to higher education. Her experiences as a counselor, dean, and professional development coordinator have afforded her the leadership skills to facilitate organizational growth. Cindy has spearheaded the design of robust data-driven programs that include college counseling, socio-emotional supports, and academic tiered interventions for diverse groups of students. Cindy’s work is centered around racially and socially just approaches that uplifts the idea that every single student is capable of, deserves, and has the capacity to attend and be successful in college.

Cindy approaches her work with integrity, from a student-centered framework, and is committed to building collaborative relationships across roles to meet all students' needs. She is inspired by the countless students she has served and believes that their accomplishments will result in equitable advancements for marginalized communities.  Cindy is excited to continue to serve the Sequoia Adult School and looks forward to building relationships with the team, students, and families.

Please join us in welcoming Cindy to SAS in her new role!

SUHSD Travel Guidance/Orientación de Viaje de Distrito Escolar

Although staying home continues to be the best way to protect yourself from COVID-19, in the event that you plan to travel this holiday season, we ask you that you please follow the CDC’s recommendations for travel.

The recommendations are as follows:
  • After travel, travelers should monitor their health and look for COVID-19 symptoms
  • Take temperature if you feel sick and visit a doctor
If you participate in “high-risk activities during travel, travelers should take additional precautions 14 days after returning home, which include:
  • Stay home as much as possible
  • Avoid being around others
Per the CDC, high-risk activities include:
  • Travel to an area that is experiencing high levels of COVID-19, including destinations with a Level 3 Risk Level
  •  Large social gatherings (such as weddings, funerals, or parties)
  •  Mass gatherings (such as sporting events, concerts, or parades)
  •  Being in crowds (e.g., at restaurants, bars, airports, bus, and train stations, and movie theaters)
  • Travel on a cruise ship or riverboat
As a community, it is important that we all do our part to take the necessary precautions to limit our exposure and spread of COVID-19. If we work together and stay vigilant, we can protect our community, save lives, and increase our opportunity of returning to a level of normalcy sooner rather than later.
