Sequoia District Adult School has been serving the mid-peninsula community since it was founded in 1921; the school opened its Fair Oaks site in 1989.
Students can study English as a Second Language. The ESL program offers five levels of language instruction, from literacy to intermediate, classes focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Students can also take classes needed to earn a High School Diploma or a High School Equivalency certificate (GED or HiSET). We schedule classes during the morning and in the evening, in English. When students are ready to take the GED or HiSET exams they can do so in our computerized test center.
We offer a High School Diploma program that requires completion of 180 credits for a high school diploma. Credits are given for classes taken (after 8th grade) at other high schools, adult schools or colleges. Elective credits may be granted for work experience, military training, or pre-approved vocational classes.
Sequoia Adult School provides college classes in ESL on site; counselors and classes are available to help students succeed at the school and transition to community college and or vocational training to further their education.
Computer Instruction: Bilingual computer class covers the basics in keyboarding, the Windows operating system, the Internet, Email, and more.
Students can also learn how to start, grow and market a business in classes offered in partnership with Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center.
