There are "Core Service" agencies throughout San Mateo County providing basic emergency and support services. These agencies help with basic needs such as food and shelter, and long term client advocacy.

    Provides food, clothing, hygiene products, peer mentors, recreation activities and life skills workshops for youth ages 18-25. Free. Open 3pm-8pm Monday to Friday.

    Offers free English conversation groups, evening English classes, and basic computer training.

    Offers food, shelter referrals, housing help, crisis intervention, legal services, mental/medical referrals, and other emergency assistance.
  • International Institute of the Bay Area, 2600 Middlefield Rd, Redwood City, CA 94063, (650) 780-7530 Provides affordable immigration legal services to Bay Area residents.
  • Siren, 2396 University Ave, East Palo Alto, CA 94303, (408) 453-3017 Provides legal services for immigrants rights, citizenship, DACA, and more. 
  • NAMI (Alianza nacional de enfermedades mentales),1650 Borel Place #130, San Mateo, CA 94402, (650) 638-0800 Provides support and resources for persons with mental illness and their families.    
  • KARA, 457 Kingsley Ave. Palo Alto, CA 94301, (650) 232-7426 English, (650) 614-1491 Spanish Support for persons dealing with the loss of a loved one. Support groups meet weekly.  
  • Stanford Cardinal Clinic, 795 Willow Road in Menlo Park, CA 94025 in the Menlo Park VA facility Offers free health care for uninsured persons. Open Sundays from 8am to 2pm.
